June 1 - Planting

We planted a  lot today in the 'garden' as we refer to our acre plot.  It was a good day.  this morning I was out about 6 to catch the coolness.  I planted a full row of tomatoes alone before breakfast.  I also added some straw to a few places in the potatoes as the plants are growing and we need to be sure to keep the potatoes covered.  After a short breakfast at 8 it was back to the garden to put in turnips, beets, radishes, another row of tomatoes, banana peppers, and finally a patch of leafy greens.  Yes it is a little late for those, however we will be using some shade cloth to keep them cool while they mature into July.  I also painted some new row markers so we will have a more clear mark of rows, and more aesthetically pleasing markers.  O, and we also planted some cilantro so we can make salsa with all the peppers, tomatoes and onions we have growing.   Was a beautiful morning, windy this afternoon though.  I hope the corn grows quick to protect our Garden.
